"ERROR - Creating Link to DOMOE Executable" when Running S/390 DOMCNSL Install

Technote Number: 1096410

Problem:
This issue was reported to Lotus Quality Engineering and has been addressed in
Domino 5.0.7 for S/390.

The error is caused by the setup script attempting to add a link to the DOMOE
executable in the /bin directory. This change was introduced in 5.0.4. The
userid used to run the DOMCNSL install did not have superuser authority, and so
the update to /bin failed. [NOTE: This will fail only on a system in which
/bin is in an HFS that is mounted read only.]

Workaround: When the link failed, the domcon.setup script terminated. Most of
the setup was done, but not all. To complete the setup except for the link,
make a copy of the script and comment out the "exit 87" statement at line 247
by putting a # at the start of the line. Then run the modified script. Except
for the DOMOE link, the domcon setup should now be complete.Supporting Information:

Since the link creation failed, you must use an alternate method for the user
to access domoe. The link is new for 5.0.4, so whatever you were using should
still work. For instance, you can include the domoe executable's location in
the user's PATH or invoke domoe, using the absolute directory location.
